Second of all, it's Ramadan! The cannon has become one of the Ramadan symbols! The reason why the canon is fired is that it was an easy way to let people know that it's time to break your fast. This was before alarms, megaphones, smartphones, and people snap-chatting, "EAT ALL THE FOODS!".
Now it's become a tradition!
