Keeping with the vision of economic diversification, a broad spectrum of sectors have identified for participation. They comprise the food industry, pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, industrial production and relevant components of the environmental sector such as recycling and sustainability plants, among others. Companies engaged in dairy production, recycling, and industrial production have already confirmed participation.

In his turn, the Assistant Undersecretary for Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Sheikh Jassim Bin Jabor Al-Thani said: “The Qatar Self-Sufficiency Exhibition, in its first edition, represents a great initiative to strengthen the cooperation between local, regional, and international production line firms. The support of the Ministry to this exhibition comes in line with the Ministry’s vision to strengthen the partnership between Government and Private sectors and encourage businessmen and investors to play an active role in establishing new projects to meet the State’s self-sufficiency in all sectors and hence participate in its economic growth.

The government has issued new legislations and incentives that protect and encourage local producers by establishing a committee on the ‘protection of national products and combating practices that harm them in international trade.’ Additionally, the Ministry is always keen in creating promising investment opportunities by updating and facilitating the conditions and procedures of establishing new companies for all sectors, in addition to other steps that support the local product, the private sector and investors,” he added.

Khalid Abdulla Al Mana, Executive Director of Business Finance at Qatar Development Bank (QDB), affirmed the benefits of the exhibition and said: “The Qatar Self-Sufficiency Exhibition, the first-of-its-kind initiative, provides the best environment to encourage investment in several sectors in the State of Qatar, namely the manufacturing sector. This exhibition opens new opportunities for major industries to showcase their latest solutions and services that answer the state’s diversification strategy.
