H e sheikha al mayassa named most prominent arab woman receives leaders medal 2023

Chairperson of Qatar Museums H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani has been named the most prominent Arab woman and awarded the Arab leader's medal for 2023 by the Arab Development Council for Women and Business. This recognition honours her diplomatic and humanitarian efforts and her social work across various developmental fields.

The award was received by H.E. the State of Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani during a reception at the embassy in Beirut. He welcomed President of the Arab Development Council for Women and Business, Dr Iman Ghossein, and her accompanying delegation.

In a post on his official X platform account, HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that he was pleased to receive the award on behalf of H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa from President Ghossein. He added that the honour reflects the contributions of Qatar's women leaders in the fields of development and creativity.

For her part, Dr. Ghossein expressed her deepest appreciation and gratitude to H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa, who she said is considered a unique model for Arab women, contributing to the advancement of women in the Arab world and globally, leaving an indelible mark on history.

Dr. Ghossein remarked that H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa is an exemplary Arab woman with pioneering influence in the fields of culture and education, noting that she has taken a leading role in supporting various local and international organizations. Ghossein highlighted Sheikha Al Mayassa's relentless efforts and initiatives to preserve culture and heritage in Qatar and reinforce the historical legacy of Arabs.

Ghossein explained that the region's circumstances, particularly the war on Gaza, caused a delay in the celebration, which was initially planned for late 2023. She added that, out of respect for the martyrs of Gaza, including men, women, and children, the celebration was cancelled, and the award was instead handed over at the Qatari embassy in Beirut.
