In a distinguished artistic event marking a collaboration between Vogue Café and Al Markhiya Gallery, the cover designs for the second edition of the "Contemporary Characters" book series by author Hamad Al Tamimi were unveiled on Wednesday, 12 June 2024. The captivating artwork was created by Qatari artist Ahmed Nooh, a member of Al Markhiya Gallery, who masterfully delivered a unique artistic vision that reflects the essence of the two books.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Ashraf Bou Issa and Dr. Buthaina Al Ansari, who unveiled the book design, and their participation had underscored the importance of this event. Additionally, it was announced that the books will be available for pre-order exclusively through Snoonu app, providing the public with the opportunity to acquire these exceptional works.
Adding to the night's significance was the presence of Mrs. Amal Ameen, a prominent businesswoman known for her unwavering support of startups and those seeking to make a difference. In her words, Mrs. Ameen emphasized the prominence of documenting the stories of contemporary figures, highlighting their contributions to society and inspiring future generations.
Mr. Hamad Hassan Al Tamimi, the project's founder, stated that "Contemporary Characters" serves as a cornerstone for achieving Qatar National Vision 2030. The project contributes to the sustainable documentation of prominent personalities in Qatari society, supporting the comprehensive strategy for an advanced society capable of sustaining its development and providing a high standard of living for its people. Qatar Vision 2030 states that this is achieved by presenting an accurate image of Qatar to the world, through clarifying facts and showcasing the accomplishments of Qatari personalities in various fields, enhancing awareness and appreciation of their role in society and encouraging continued efforts to achieve sustainable development goals. Furthermore, the documentation project aids in understanding the development paths that have contributed to the realization of Qatar Vision 2030, enabling officials and planners to benefit from past lessons and apply them in the future.
It is noteworthy that the "Contemporary Characters" project is a community initiative by writer Hamad Al Tamimi, encompassing over 170 figures from Qatari citizens and residents in the State of Qatar. It represents an extensive documentation process aimed at highlighting the achievements of these individuals in the building and development of modern Qatar. The work reflects a comprehensive documentation of the journeys of these figures, showcasing their efforts and achievements in various fields.
The two books will be launched at a grand ceremony on 24 June 2024, under the patronage of several prominent entities in the State of Qatar. The ceremony is expected to attract a large number of dignitaries and those interested in cultural and artistic affairs.
This work is part of the efforts of Qatari writer Hamad Al Tamimi to promote culture and the arts and document the journeys of contemporary personalities in Qatar.
