These temperatures are rising and with the glaring sun over our heads, it’s about time we update our makeup routines. If you are interested in “Doha-proofing” your makeup this summer, keep reading for a few tips on how to do so!

#1 A strong base goes a long way

If you are just heading to work or for a day at the mall with your girlfriends, the walk from the car to the building in this sweltering summer is enough for you to sweat through your MAC foundation. Invest in a good primer to help your foundation last all day without creasing or getting cakey.

#2 Switch it up.

Replace your foundation for a BB/CC cream as it helps give almost the same coverage but feels lighter on the skin. If you don’t have the heart to ditch your beloved foundation, mix a drop of your favourite foundation with sunscreen, so you get both the coverage you want and the protection you need. Another alternative to the liquid foundation you’re used to using could be powder foundation which helps when your skin is slightly on the oilier side.

#3 Too hot to tan? Bronze away!

Ditch your cream contour for powder bronzer to give you that summer tan that you’ve been dying for. Forgoing that glow and skipping on highlighter might also be a good idea if you tend to get oily quickly. If not, you could use a natural –looking highlighter to make your skin look nice and summer-y.

#4 Your new B.F.F- Facial Mists.

Hydrating facial mists are all the rage these days with brands introducing them to the market left, right and center. A spritz of the mist on a hot day can really cool you down and refresh your skin without moving your makeup that’s already in place.

#5 Blot it out!

Chances are, you’re going to sweat, even if you’re only outside for a minute or two. And sweat equals oily skin and ruined makeup. But fear not, this doesn’t mean you have to carry all your makeup everywhere. It’s helpful to carry travel size products like setting powder or bronzer with you on a long day, but most of all, blotting paper will be your best pal. Dabbing it on the oily spots on your face will absorb the oils and make you matte again. Some even use toilet seat covers as a convenient alternative. Just make sure you’re being hygienic!
