Cycling in Doha

Cycling in Doha
January 21, 2011 08:31AM
I checked in at Ezdan Suites on a temporary accomodation provided by my company. I am yet to get my work permit and buy my car. Can I use a bycycle to move around from Ezdan to City Center during leisure time? The distance is around 2 miles and could well be a health spin off! Someone please advise.

yeah sure, don't see why not. There's enough crossing paths from Ezdan.

Ezdan to City Center is a pretty short trip. Some routes can be light on traffic & others heavy during the main part of the day. Many of the sidewalks between those two points are pretty wide & lightly traveled, so if you feel the need to get away from the car traffic you can try riding there safely.

As it is a short trip on lower speed roads, it should be enjoyable.

Folks, Thanks for the suggestion. I am on my way to buy a bycycle and will give my feedback once I start pedalling around Ezdan to City Center.

Thanks for the info on here. I don't drive and I am an avid cyclist. I was worried that I wasn't able to bike around as much but it seems like I can. Any rules and regulations about riding bikes in the city though? ( i.e. are we allowed to ride on pedestrian sidewalks, rules of the road etc etc )
