GREAT RESPONSE TO GULF CRAFT'S YACHT PREVIEW (no replies)

Leading yacht manufacturer sells two Majesty Yachts during three-day roadshow, its second exclusive display in the vibrant Qatari market

The Pear Qatar marina in Doha saw a procession of yacht-lovers for three days last month as the “Majesty Yachts Exclusive Preview” by Gulf Craft Inc. a global manufacturer of luxury yachts and fiberglass boats, ran to a great reception from Qatari customers from the 28th to the 30th of March. The event, which saw the sale of two Majesty Yachts, was Gulf Craft’s second exclusive display in Qatar in as many years. The preview featured the Qatari premiere of a new Majesty 125 - Gulf Craft’s third-largest superyacht model - and a brand new Majesty 105, which has already garnered rave reviews at the recently concluded Dubai International Boat Show 2013. Also on display were other popular Gulf Craft models including the Majesty 63, the Majesty 70 and Majesty 77.

“We were delighted by the fantastic response to our Majesty Yacht range in Qatar. We sold two Majesty Yachts during the event, which is a result of the strong relationship we have with our clientele in Qatar - a country which has a traditional affinity for the sea and a culture of yachting,” said Mohamed Hussain AlShaali, Chairman of Gulf Craft. “In fact, the Qatari market has been making up nearly 20% of our revenues recently and our customers there appreciate the finer aspects of yacht-building. It is always a pleasure to showcase our range in Doha as customers not only appreciate sailing and cruising as a recreational activity, but also have a connoisseur’s eye for well-engineered yachts built to a high finishing standard.

Speaking about the response to the preview and the Qatari market, Erwin Bamps, Chief Operating Officer for Gulf Craft, said: “It was heartening to see the level of interest in our Majesty Yachts range among Qataris, however, it was not a surprise. We are market leaders in Qatar and already have a large number of vessels of all dimensions berthed in Doha’s marinas – and this number increased further during the event with the sale of two Majesty Yachts. Our dealers in this market ensure that Gulf Craft’s Qatari customers get the best in terms of service and technical support. The ‘Majesty Yachts Exclusive Preview’ is our way of being close to our customers here and to show our commitment to the Qatari market.”
[attachment 9690 InauguratingtheEventDr.HamadAbdelAlAzizalKuwariMinisterofCultureandChairmanofGulfCraftMohammedHusseinAlShaali.jpg]

The yacht line-up will also feature other popular Gulf Craft models including the Majesty 56, Majesty 63 and the Majesty 70.

“Qatar is a market that is highly boating oriented and a booming one for Gulf Craft. We have delivered a number of yachts and superyachts to Qatar in recent years, a development which has coincided with the number of new marinas that have come online in the country,” says Mohamed Hussain AlShaali, Chairman of Gulf Craft.
“There is a high interest in larger-sized yachts, to almost the same degree as in the UAE. We consider Qatar a home market and following the interest received at the Dubai Boat Show, we were keen to showcase some of our most popular models to the Qataris on their home turf,” he added. “We presented a similar showcase in late 2011 which was very positively met and indicated a very strong interest in what we bring to the market.”

Visitors to the Majesty Yachts Exclusive Preview will be able to tour the superyachts on display from 4pm – 10pm, March 28th-30th, with a special “Ladies Only” viewing arranged for the morning of March 30th from 10am - 3pm.

Aqua Park – A Blessing (2 replies)

The first and only water theme park in Qatar is Aqua Park. The premier water themed park in Qatar located on the Salwa Road, opposite Abu Nakhla Petrol Station. It is approximately at a distance of 15 km from the Industrial area roundabout.
The highlight for the younger children is the Activity pool. The water here is not deep and so is therefore ideal for younger children. There are slides, water cannons and other water based toys. Nearby is the Lazy River where you can ride on tubes around long flowing river.
The star attractions are the Boomerango and multi slides complex where you can choose between a series of different flume rides. On one of them you sit on inner-tubes and go down a sharp drop. Coming out the other end you race up an almost vertical wall. Close to the top there is a reverse free fall.
Other attractions include a giant wave pool, a family pool, an exotic village, bar pool and several restaurants.
While you are in the water park you don’t need to worry about your money. You can keep all your stuff safely in a locker.
You may also choose to keep your money with the friendly restaurant owner who will keep your money separately in plastic cups and keep a track of how much you spend there.
I read about Aqua Park while it was still being built the last year year. I had the impression that is was going to be a small place but to my surprise it is built in a huge area which extends to around 50000 sq mts with some amazing fun rides and water attractions which is great to kill the heat of the crazy summer in Doha.
To have a look at some of the pics from Aqua Park Qatar….

Mohammed
[qatarday.com]
Follow us on Twitter [twitter.com]

I am yet to get my work permit and buy my car. Can I use a bycycle to move around from Ezdan to City Center during leisure time? The distance is around 2 miles and could well be a health spin off! Someone please advise.

I need more info on some activities...:)o (5 replies)

I am very fortunate to have my Canadian family coming to visit me in Qatar this Christmas! I want to show them some really interesting local activities (aside from organized tours and typical tourist stuff)...maybe some a bit off from the typical beaten path. The activities I'm planning are more for myself and my younger cousins (late teens). Here is the list of what I'm thinking:

- Finding Desert Roses, Digging for Truffles (whatever it's actually called??)
- Sliding down the Singing Sand Dunes
- Snorkelling, maybe spearfishing if it's possible from shore
- Beach Trip (I was thinking Fuwairit?)
- Dune Buggies (I've rented by the hour before near Sealine...does anyone rent on a daily basis? Maybe with a trailer?)
- Crabbing? I've heard of people doing this but have no idea what it entails...
- Any other suggestions?

If anyone could provide some info as to where is best to go/how to do the above it would be greatly appreciated! (For example...how do we go about searching for truffles?)

Thanks! (:D

Technology is Key to Qatar's 2022 Bid! (3 replies)

FIFA’s official visit is now behind us and the waiting game is on to see if Qatar will be awarded the 2022 World Cup. If you talk to ten people you will get ten different views on whether Qatar will win and what factors will make or break it. Size, location, weather, legacy, money – we have heard them all. Let me add one – technology.

There is of course the impressive technology being proposed for the stadiums. It is certainly an ambitious goal of creating a stadium that will be open-air, but keep the on-field temperature a comfortable 27 degrees in a Qatar summer. But the technology that will be necessary for Qatar to win the bid goes way beyond the flashy stadiums. The most important technology is the communications systems that will allow the games to be shared with the world, enable security and public works to operate without interruption and also create a new experience for the thousands that would come to Qatar for the matches.

Tell us your views: do you think technology can help Qatar win the bid? And what technologies are most important in your opinions?

Join in the discussion at: [www.digitalqatar.net]
