I know there is a lot of conflicting info on this subject, but just got this from the Qatar Embassy Website in London. I have also spoken to them today and they advised that the tourist visa you can get online here from Hukoomi, you will no longer be able to do this from the 1st May.

From Qatar Embassy website in the UK, www.qatarembassy.info

Do you know if the Embassy in London will process visa's for Irish nationals? There is no Qatari Embassy in Ireland. This is the usual process for countries with no presence in Ireland (we're only little!)

Hi Susief

Not sure if they do, although it mentions "One to five years multi - Irish passport only: £ 300". You can check it out at www.qatarembassy.info

If you phone them, it's quicker when you get through to put in the visa extension no. 260

Good luck

additionally, you can only renew your visa at your home country (country you are living in).
So you can't fly off to Bahrain and get a visa at the Qatari embassy there.

Thanks Amnesia,

Also it depends on who you speak to at the Embassy in London as to what you need. A friend spoke to someone who advised you need one bank statement, 2 pictures, visa app each, £20 postal order each and an address here in Doha, now the website say 3 bank statements + photocopies. Now not about getting a photocopy of your residency in the UK as not sure what they need to prove you are a resident.

Hi All

Am not sure if this is true and it would be useful if anyone else can either confirm or deny it but i have heard this morning from a reliable source that the introduction of the new visa regulations has been delayed for an indefinite period

The front of the Gulf Times today agrees with you Adam_new. Thankfully it looks like they are delaying this initiative. Hopefully indefinitely!

It sounds like officials here decided to introduce the measure in order to force/speed up other countries to give Qataris the same treatment when they travel, i.e. allow Qataris to get visas on arrival in Europe and the US as Europeans and US citizens get here. Seems only fair!

Yes, it was on the front page of thepeninsulaqatar

Funny how people only read what they want to though, as many thought they would have to travel to the Qatar Embassy, when in fact their website said different. Anyway it's good news :)
