One of the first restaurants that we ate at when we arrived in Qatar all those years ago, was Sakura, the Japanese restaurant in the Ramada hotel. It was the hotel we were staying in while looking for a house and going through the whole visa/medical process. I still have nightmares about the shrimp themed carpeting in our room but that's another story.

I've been in the Middle East for 10 years this September and I am embarrassed to admit that I have NEVER been to a Sohour during Ramadan. Really. It's true. I was invited along to the Intercontinental Hotel's Sohour on Saturday by their Public Relations Manager, Raquel Gonzales and I would like to say a very big thank you to her and the team at the hotel for a wonderful experience. A very special thank you to Chef Talal for giving me his time to explain some of the dishes. (more...)

However I just had to write up this review because I had the most terrible service I can remember in a while. I had decided to go to Chilis Salwa Road branch for Iftar. I specifically chose that branch because in general, they've got the best food compared to the rest of the branches (yes sadly they're not consistent with their quality even in a tiny country like Qatar). My first issue was with (more...)

Mykonos Restaurant at the Intercon in Doha, is (as far as I know, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) the only Greek restaurant in Doha. We were originally booked in for Iftar at the Intercon but when we arrived it was very crowded and almost manic in mood. I don't have a problem with large crowds but it actually made me feel quite uncomfortable, so we did a quick U-Turn and headed back to the lobby. The Belgian Bar and Paloma are closed during Ramadan so we opted for Mykonos, the Greek restaurant which is situated by the pool. (more...)

So the Ritz was the first hotel that I visited to enjoy a Ramadan Suhour. On ramadan-kareem.net , the Ritz describes themselves with the following, "The Ritz has transformed the Wosail Ballroom into a beautiful tent bursting with colors. Within the tent are 6 VIP tents. 25 chefs will prepare delicious arabian food. There's also live entertainment, music, falconry, and henna designers. Mix that up with wide selection of Sheesha and you'll feel like a sultan.". So did they keep their promise? Let's see! (more...)
